We are pleased to share a fantastic piece of coverage from Walter & Pat Brooks on CapeCodToday.com, which receives about 61,000 visitors a month and on PlymouthDailyNews.com, about 83,000 visitors per month. The couple visited Gloucester on September 14th and 15th.
Positioning Gloucester as the “other” Cape (while making a sly aside that Gloucester residents consider Cape Cod as the “other”), an angle we have been pushing, their review goes well beyond our expectations. They had meals at the Gloucester House, Lat 43, and Passports, all of which they include a review accompanied by enticing images for each. The feature discusses some history of Gloucester and praises the many activities available. Noting this part of the New England seacoast is sadly overlooked, they highly recommend spending a few days in Gloucester. Numerous beautiful images and links were also included.

Older than Cape Cod, and very different

Gloucester is one of those seaports where every turn reveals another great photo op.
Gloucester is a very colorful and active seaport

If you're looking for a nearby excursion to a part of the New England seacoast sadly overlooked, I highly recommend spending a few days at the tip of Cape Ann in the bustling seaport named Gloucester.
Local wags here refer to Cape Cod as the "the other cape."
Like so many other attractions right at our backdoor (have you taken a whale watch or train ride recently here?), Gloucester was a pleasant surprise when we spent a weekend there this month....
We are delighted with this positive, in-depth coverage. You can see the feature here.

Your perfect beach
BEST FOR DOGS
Early mornings and sundown will find dogs of all breeds romping at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. There's shallow water and calm surf, ideal for a wet game of fetch. Town rules prohibit dogs between May 1 and Sept. 15, but many owners quietly observe their own rules -- most of all the scoop mandate, which they follow year round. Word to the wise: The early dog gets the parking space.

BEST FOR FAMILIES
Plenty of lifeguards, mellow waves, a snack bar, and a parking lot that's not too far from the beach are all important when you're lugging toys, umbrellas, towels, extra hats, chairs, sunscreen -- oh, and kids. That's really what makes Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester special; the critical mass of under-14-year-olds who turn out on nice days to play. The beach is popular, and nonresident parking is limited, so be sure to arrive before 10 a.m. to stake out a good spot in the lot or on the sand.

Rocky and historic, Gloucester and aptly named Rockport combine for a beautiful northern Massachusetts destination perfect for a leisurely day trip.
Often outshone by its more famous neighbor, Salem, Gloucester's past is punctuated with tales of heroism and high seas adventure, and lovelorn widows forced to raise their children alone.
