Opportunity for coverage in Coastal Living magazine

We wanted to let you know of an opportunity we spotted in Coastal Living
magazine to get Cape Ann some national attention. The magazine is looking
for island photos for an upcoming issue so we alerted GoodMorningGloucester
about it and Joey C. posted our note today (below). Hopefully Cape Anners
will submit some beautiful photos of Salt Island, Ten Pound Island or our
other islands. With a national circulation of 625,000, Coastal Living would
give us some nice exposure if one of our photos is chosen.

Best,
John

Joey,

We all know Cape Ann has some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere. The
great images in GoodMorningGloucester everyday are proof!

National magazine Coastal Living is asking people to send in their best
island-related photos for an upcoming issue about islands. Think Ten Pound
Island. Salt Island. Thacher Island. Straitsmouth Island.

Photos should be sent as attachments to coastallivingmag@gmail.com, with the
name of the sender, phone number and description of the photo (including
where and when it was taken) in the body of the email. The image should be
in .tif or .eps format and at least 300 dpi. One photo entry per reader.

More than 625,000 people read Coastal Living every month, so we would be
showcasing Cape Ann's beauty to a large, national audience.

Thanks,

John McElhenny

matter COMMUNICATIONS for Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce

The GoodMorningGloucester post about this today is here.

PR for Gloucester Hits Again!!

Matter Communications, Gloucester's PR Firm, writes....

We are pleased to share a fantastic piece of coverage from Walter & Pat Brooks on CapeCodToday.com, which receives about 61,000 visitors a month and on PlymouthDailyNews.com, about 83,000 visitors per month. The couple visited  Gloucester on September 14th and 15th.

Positioning Gloucester as the “other” Cape (while making a sly aside that Gloucester residents consider Cape Cod as the “other”), an angle we have been pushing, their review goes well beyond our expectations. They had meals at the Gloucester House, Lat 43, and Passports, all of which they include a review accompanied by enticing images for each. The feature discusses some history of Gloucester and praises the many activities available. Noting this part of the New England seacoast is sadly overlooked, they highly recommend spending a few days in Gloucester.  Numerous beautiful images and links were also included.

Older than Cape Cod, and very different

Gloucester is one of those seaports where every turn reveals another great photo op.

Gloucester is a very colorful and active seaport

By Walter Brooks with photos by Patricia Brooks

If you're looking for a nearby excursion to a part of the New England seacoast sadly overlooked, I highly recommend spending a few days at the tip of Cape Ann in the bustling seaport named Gloucester.

Local wags here refer to Cape Cod as the "the other cape."

Like so many other attractions right at our backdoor (have you taken a whale watch or train ride recently here?), Gloucester was a pleasant surprise when we spent a weekend there this month....

We are delighted with this positive, in-depth coverage. You can see the feature here.

Gloucester, Cape Pond Ice In The News - Boston Sunday Globe

Feed their minds and tummies
These food-themed destinations are sure to satisfy kids’ cravings for fun
By Shira Springer, Globe Staff | June 27, 2010

Kids and food can be a touchy subject. Literally. My toddler nephew Henry believes smushed bananas and yogurt should double as hair gel. More often than not with kids, mealtime devolves into a don’t-throw-that, eat-this, no-dessert-for-you struggle of wills.

PR for Gloucester Showing Results

Gloucester is all over the news this week and there is more to come.

Gloucester and Rockport Beaches hit Boston.com's TOP 25 Perfect Beaches this weekend. Good Harbor and Wingaersheek and Front Beach in Rockport. Too bad the parking situation at Good Harbor wasn't handled with a little more understanding towards those hot, hungry tourists just dying to spend money in Gloucester. Hope that doesn't turn them off forever.

Besides taking up a lot of our parking spaces, this movie is bringing in the press. Boston Globe, Boston ... << MORE >>

Good Harbor Beach and Wingaersheek Beach Voted Top 25

Your perfect beach

BEST FOR DOGS
Early mornings and sundown will find dogs of all breeds romping at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. There's shallow water and calm surf, ideal for a wet game of fetch. Town rules prohibit dogs between May 1 and Sept. 15, but many owners quietly observe their own rules -- most of all the scoop mandate, which they follow year round. Word to the wise: The early dog gets the parking space.

Your perfect beach

BEST FOR FAMILIES
Plenty of lifeguards, mellow waves, a snack bar, and a parking lot that's not too far from the beach are all important when you're lugging toys, umbrellas, towels, extra hats, chairs, sunscreen -- oh, and kids. That's really what makes Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester special; the critical mass of under-14-year-olds who turn out on nice days to play. The beach is popular, and nonresident parking is limited, so be sure to arrive before 10 a.m. to stake out a good spot in the lot or on the sand.

Gloucester and Rockport In The News - Go Magazine, WBZ Boston

GO Magazine

History meets scenery

Rocky and historic, Gloucester and aptly named Rockport combine for a beautiful northern Massachusetts destination perfect for a leisurely day trip.

Often outshone by its more famous neighbor, Salem, Gloucester's past is punctuated with tales of heroism and high seas adventure, and lovelorn widows forced to raise their children alone.
